Doctor Blade Prep

Doctor Blade Prep was developed to clean and rejuvenate doctor blades before application of doctor blade coating.  Doctor Blade Prep removes toner from the blade without affecting the blade while preparing the surface for the doctor blade coating.  This is especially important in color cartridges that can be permanently damaged by alcohol and other solvents used to remove toner.  Prepping the blade eliminates streaking and void areas associated with remanufactured cartridges by removing contaminate on the blade.

Step 1:    Vacuum or wipe off any loose toner on doctor blade.

Step 2:    Open bottle containing Doctor Blade Prep.  Put a cotton swab into bottle and get the tip wet.

Step 3:    Apply Doctor Blade Prep in one direction along the axis of the blade where a line of toner appears.

Rotate cotton swab so that a damp clean area of the swab comes into contact with the blade with

               each stroke.

Step 4:    Go across the blade as in step 3 until no toner is coming off on the swab.

Step 5:    The blade is uniform after color contamination is removed.  You may now apply the Doctor Blade

                Coating.
