OPC Polycoat Application Directions

OPC Polycoat extends the life of the OPC drum by applying a coating of Teflon and sealants to the charge transfer layer of the photoconductor.  This coating fills in surface scratches and provides much needed lubrication to the photoconductor, preventing wear the main reason for OPC failure.   OPC Polycoat can be applied to both OEM and aftermarket OPC drums with equal results, extending their life almost indefinitely.

Step 1:  Pre-clean OPC drum with padding powder and a cotton ball.  The padding powder should remove all toner and surface contaminants from the drum.  However, if there is anything still sticking to the drum use 99% isopropyl alcohol sparingly before applying OPC Polycoat.

Step 2: SHAKE WELL.  Apply a few drops of OPC Polycoat to a cotton pad*.

Step 3:  Apply OPC Polycoat in a back and forth circular motion along the axis of the OPC drum (from gear to gear). Go around the drum at lease two times, applying a thin even coat.

Step 4:  Allow to dry for 2 to 3 minutes, a haze should appear.  Remove the haze from the drum with a clean cotton pad.

Step 5:  Replace OPC drum in cartridge.  Some background toner may appear until all the residue is removed from the drum.  This is accomplished by making 2 to 5 prints. You have successfully completed the process.

*Do not use Webril Handi-Pads.
